Drunken Festivals

Did u enjoy the video from previous post? I saw it so many times because I just cant resist it.
anyhoo, lemme write about American Thanksgiving. It is a harvest festival - time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. It is usually celebrated on fourth thursday of November.
I have never celebrated thxgiving in Asia but I have since I came here, because I want to learn more about western culture (caugh caugh, More excuse to party).
This year, me and my roomy hosted a party at our place. We prepared bunch of traditional thanksgiving meal such as TURKEY, ham, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, mush potatoes, gravy, ... etc etc and ofcoarse, SANGRIA. Preparation started the night before the thanksgiving. My friend came over to put stuffing in the turkey, me and my roomy made sangria.

How to make Sangria:

1 bottle of wine, 2 cups of soda, 1tbs of sugar, 1 shot of gin/brandy/triple sec, fruits (apple, orange, grape, berries, whatever u can find)

we end up using 18 bottles of wines. yes, i am serious, and it was so worth it!

Turkey and Ham stayed in the oven for long long time. After hours & hours, it looked so perfect to eat ;D

Two of my friends and I dressed in thanksgiving color: orange and brown. lol. Approximately 20 people ended up coming to the party, and it was a blast. I had so much fun that day.

Friday is usually the "Recovery Period". Everyone is hangover and tired from thanksgiving. Our meal started with Thanksgiving left over food, and the same day, my roomy's guy friends from Germany came over to visit. Also Vietnamese girls from Boston. So we had 5 people sleeping over in our apartment for the weekend. No time to be hang over!!

On Saturday, I had my birthday party at small lounge in Lower East Side Manhattan called White Rabbit. This lounge was literally tofu-cube size, but I had lots of fun with all my friends :) I don't need a big party. I don't need birthday cake or presents. As long as I have my close friends to celebrate birthday with me, I am happiest girl on earth.

In America, People buy drinks as a gift. I dont know how many times I heard "Let me buy you a drink". My friends kept on feeding me alcohol. lol. After the lounging and going home, My friends surprised me with bday cake and presents from victoria's secret. I was so surprised (because who can predict getting bday cake and present after lounging and after goin home and when the night was about to be over). Seriously, I was so touched. Omg, i love them all. I also had birthday lunch on Sunday with my friends at time square. Place is called Bubba Gump and it is somehow related to the movie, Forrest Gump. Seafood was really good. The waiters also sang for me bday song and made me dance along with the song, which was pretty emberassing. haha.

After the bday party, no time to be hang over again. I went to school in Morning, and I went sight seeing for two days with the German boys (I should call them Men because they are older than me). It's so amusing how they get fascinated about every little thing and places of NYC. I love their positive energy. They can enjoy anything. I had so much fun hanging out with them :) Now I have place to visit in Germany!!

Now I finally get some time alone, but I still dont get recovery period, because of the Final exams and Term papers. My weekend plan is to spend the entire day and night at library. How sad. I am also broke. Where is Money Tree? I need a giving tree that can give me money.

US TV Anatomy

End of Semester is always Crazy with mountain piles of work to do. Its like quiz after quiz, midterm and more midterm, and endless term paper and assignments. I am surprised I still manage to keep my sanity.

Thanks giving is coming up!! I don't usually celebrate thanks giving (because i am so asian), but this year, I am going to prepare dinner with my roommate. 15 people on guest list so far, making a list of dinner menu including turkey, we are gonna have super traditional american thx giving :D oh ya.

anyhoo, does anyone watch tv series?? there are sooo many tv series in u.s. such as gossip girls, lost, csi, hero, simpsons,...etc. Too many that it is impossible to keep up with every thing.

There are two tv series I watch every week. Greys anatomy and Ugly Betty. I've also seen every season (except for 1st season) of project runway and Friends that ended long time ago. I don't know why I am in love with these shows. I tried watching lost (and I actually watched most of the episodes, until the most recent one), but I didn't become addicted to lost like my other friends who made the lost "album" and bought lost "script" off the auction.

I love ugly betty because I am into fashion, and ugly betty is all about life in major fashion magazine company. How about greys anatomy?? I guess I like it because Its not only about treating patients (by the way, i think surgery scene are very cool), but its also about relationships and life of interns, residents, and attendings.

As I watched the show, the characters grew into me. I feel connection with each of them now. I am still not that crazy about this show that makes me want to buy a script, but crazy enough that I MUST watch the new episodes every week.

I love how interns and residents "fight" for surgery. Working in hospital is all about competiton and outgoing the other members. It kinda make me think the reason why there are many great surgents in america is because, those people are very aggressive and they fight for the best.

They are Fighters.

If I wasnt into fashion, maybe I went to med school. I remember reading my mother's medical dictionary back in kindergarten. Hospital used to be my play ground too. After all, I guess childfood can also influence people's future.

Bean Town vs. Big Apple

I know many ppl know about this, but I decided to write about it on my blog. Boston and New York have been having rivalry for loooongest time. Especially when it comes to sports. They both have extremely strong teams and they always fight for the top place in U.S.

NFL FootBall
patriots vs. jets

NBA BasketBall
celtics vs. knicks

BaseBall

redsox vs. yankees

I just moved to New York and I got to know many ppl. Only problem is, whoever we meet in NY would be fan of NY sport team.
Recently, my roommate and I watch Foot Ball on tv. Ofcoarse, we support the Patriots. But my friends in NY are all Jets fan, so we we will be cheering for Patriots while they are cheering for Jets. Whenever Patriots win, we get all happy, Whenever Jets win, my friends get all happy.

I always feel like I am fighting at "away" game because I feel like the entire New Yorkers are against me. but whatever. I still love Boston and I will always support sport teams from Boston.
p.s. whenever random guys start talking to me at club, i start talking about patriots, celtics, and redsox. it will make them go away in like 2 seconds. trust me. it woooorks!!!! lol.

Chin-licious!!

No events these days. i am having very peaceful life :D
Yesterday after my morning class, I went straight to Manhattan (i had to see my friend off since she was goin back to boston) and shop around china town.

China town in manhattan was really fun! eventhough i went there for like 100 times before, i have never ever shopped there. it was really exciting!!! i was tempted to buy the i love NY t-shirt. i also wanted to get some dvd but $9 was too expensive for me. You can also get tons of fruits off the street. My favorite is Coconut Juice. sooooooooo good!!! I also bought tons of chinese breads @ this store where they sell breads and cakes.
anyway, totally changing topic. there is really nice store near my house. i always buy party clothing there very last minute because i can buy really nice clothing for like $30. yesterday, i bought this shirt. i love how dorkey it is.
i also bought economist. just wanna more in depth about political reform these days, especially the medicare part. i wonder how america is gonna acheive the universal healthcare.
oh! this is kinda random, but anyway, since my cousin gave a birth to a half japanese half african baby boy, i called my mom and tell her to name him barack!! thas realllly cool name to have! if i marry an american guy, i would name my baby boy barack too :D

East Village is a GREAT place for Young New Yorkers.

People go out to drink at bar with really great deals (like 5 shots for $20), Tattos & Piercing Shops are all over the place, you'll also see trendy street style clothing stores.

The best part about East Village is St Marks, the heart of East Village with Many many Japanese Restaurants and shops. The food there tastes "real", as in, it doesnt taste like those fake japanese food with chinese, american, or whatever mixed in to it.

I went to buy Japanese grocery the other day. omg i almost had a heart attack because the store had SOOOOO many foood!! omg omg. I was literally jumping around.

I shopped $*0 amount of grocery. I am so emberassed Im not gonna post the price, but I think I can eat for like a month. I even txt messeged my roommate at work because I HAD to share this happy moment with her.

I loooove East Village :D

oh! btw, do u have any idea what is "mario 64"? I used to play that game on n64, and I play it on ds lite now. People who never played this game wont get it, but ya, I think I know I am a true gamer when I get 150 Stars, with 7 stars on every stages, 100 coins on every stages, and 30 secret stars. It was difficult, but I did it!! and I am not proud of myself at all. I had so much time to waste in public transportation like bus, train, and even airplane. This is the way I kill my times and i totally killed it. I could have done other stuff like read newspaper, current events, ... and so on. oh well :D

First African American President in the US History!!

Today is Voting Date in America. I had school from 6 - 8pm but I couldn't stop thinking about the election (and even Professor also couldn't stop thinking about it. lol).

The 1st African American President!!! BARACK OBAMA!!! omg im soooo HAPPY!!!!!

I kept up to dated with the presidential election news since.... I dont even know when. For a long time!! I also studied some of their policies on Medicare and stuff like that. Barack definitely have much better policy, and I believe 60% of American thinks the same way (and most likely many more non-americans too)

I think its really great how US people are so concerned about election. On the other hand, many Japanese people don't care about politics, many of them dont even vote, especially the young ppl.

Medicare, Energy, Environment, Education, ... etc Obama has soo much policies to work on!! Bush's business plan failed miserably, I hope Obama will be able to fix the problems.

It's Time!

Project H

It was happy halloween in U.S. couple days ago. My first halloween in Big Apple.

Since I had no time to Costume shop during the weekday, I did last-minute Costume shopping. I was surprised to see line in front of the store. It was literally longer than line for club in Boston. I lined up for like 20 min just to get into the store, and spent like 10 min shopping for the costume.

I was planning to wear a geisha costume, but unfortunatelly, i couldnt find it. So i just picked a random costume (which happened to be a pirate). The thing is, I had no cap, so when i wore the costume, no body was able to tell what I am wearing. aww.

I was so exhasuted from the costume shopping I decided not to go to the Halloween parade. I joined my friends after the parade and we went bar hopping at Lower East Side.

It was great! The entire Manhattan was dressed in a costume, 99.999% of the girls are half naked because of their extremely slutty Costume, I saw this guy dressed up in Beer-pong Table too!! The funniest costume I saw was this guy wearing Green body suit and he was something to do with emission of gas. haha.

Now, my halloween costume is in the closet, and I am pretty sure ill never wear it again :D

My friends and I decided to explore the West Village ;)

OMG the singer was AMAZING!!! he played lots of country/pop Music, something like Cold Play, even Simon and Garfunkel. SERIOUSLY, I FELL in LOVE with him!!!!!!! (woops. I mean his music)

I also took my friends to the studio. We were trying on dresses again, and ofcoarse, more alcohol. My friend looked soooooo pretty in the yellow dress!!! (its see through too!! lol) I tried on the Navy Corset :) so hot :)

I love West Village. Good Food and Good Music. Also makes me forget about Quiz I have next day...

One Night in NY - I love Fashion

Any thing Can happen in New York

I went to tapas bar in soho. While I was having fun, drinking x numbers of red wine with my friend, a man started talking to us. He told us he is Fashion Designer in NY. After more convesation and more wines, we were invited to visit his design studio.

I was so excited!!! I really love fashion, and working in retail is my dream. It was my dream come true to be surrounded by all the dresses. Just like project runway in live (btw, the designers I met are friend with a guy from project runway!!)

I was introduced to amazing designers, and they let me try on their dresses. Fashion show in Studio. Opening up more wines, talking about designs, it was such a crazy nite:) I also became friend with a manager of the bar next door so Im excited to go there again. I'll definitely visit! When I have time.

Im lovin the life in NY. Unfortunately, I am not going to post pic of me in the dress because it is transparent. I am posting the other designer's dress instead!

Bean town girls in Chi-town

I went to Chicago Last Weekend. The city was amazing. So many brand new architectures (my friend told me big fire happened before and burned down everything in the city so they reconstructed the entire city), beautiful park with happily married brides and grooms, piers with fascinating attractions, jazz bar with music you just cant stop dancing to it, ... I fell in love with this City.

Chicago is definitely a place for couples. There are way too many Romantic spots for group of girls to visit. I wonder if its possible to make a boy friend just for Chicago. Thats like every girls' dream.

I came home on Sunday Night because I had early morning Monday class,.... and I slept in by accident because I was literally exhausted and couldnt wake up... I've never missed a class... and I came back on Sunday just for this Monday class... ... sigh :D

Blank Slate

Day 1

Shutting Down Xanga Site
Creating New Website Using Google Blog

I love my Campus!! My school in Boston didn't have "campus"- as in, nothing green, so I am loving the trees, grass, fountains, and small animals running across.
